This site is connected to, and fully controls, an optical telescope! We call her Maia. Maia is a 24-inch robotically controlled newtonian reflector equatorially mounted in a horseshoe yoke similar to Mount Palomar's 200-inch Hale Telescope. Maia is equipped with a high-resolution color CCD camera and allows anyone with a Java Enabled Web Browser to remotely point her anywhere in the sky and receive digital images in real time. Exclusive time with Maia is purchased and reserved in one-hour time blocks at the rate of $99(USA) per hour, weather permitting. |

As of April 8, 2002 Maia is down! |
