This site is connected to, and fully controls, an optical telescope!
We call her Maia.

Maia is a 24-inch robotically controlled newtonian reflector equatorially mounted in a horseshoe yoke similar to Mount Palomar's 200-inch Hale Telescope.

Maia is equipped with a high-resolution color CCD camera and allows anyone with a Java Enabled Web Browser to remotely point her anywhere in the sky and receive digital images in real time.

Exclusive time with Maia is purchased and reserved in one-hour time blocks at the rate of $99(USA) per hour, weather permitting.

As of April 8, 2002 Maia is down!
Damage has occurred from the vandalism of lesser evolved humans. Maia will be up as soon as possible. All reservations will be honored at a later date or fully refunded. We are aware of the extreme nature of your inconvenience and do apologize.
